Mail Clerk

FosterThomas, Inc. is a leading HR Management and Consulting firm. We are seeking a Mail Clerk to assist our client, a Government Contractor located in Washington DC.
 

Requirements:

  1. Must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 unless the candidate is legally entitled to an accommodation. Acceptable onboarding documentation of vaccination proof must be one of the following:
    1. A copy of the record of immunization from a health care provider or pharmacy;
    2. A copy of the COVID-19 Vaccination Record Card (CDC Form MLS-319813_r, published on September 3, 2020);
    3. A copy of medical records documenting the vaccination;
    4. A copy of immunization records from a public health or State immunization information system; or
    5. A copy of any other official documentation verifying vaccination with information on the vaccination name, date(s) of administration, and the name of health care professional or clinic site administering vaccine.
  2. Must comply with CDC guidance related to masking and physical distancing while in government agency workplaces.
  3. Have a minimum of one-year work experience with mail handling and distribution that give evidence of ability to perform tasks required
  4. Proficient in mail center operations
  5. Process and distribute incoming mail to personnel in a corporate setting.
  6. Sort mail by hand and/or use sorting machines.
  7. Log incoming mail into an internal system as required.
  8. Deliver messages and packages from one department or individual to another within an office, maintain shipping and mailing supplies, such as envelopes, tape, and stamps, and keep an inventory of these supplies.
  9. Handle all outgoing packages by packaging items if necessary, ensure proper labeling, and arrange pickup from the post office, UPS, FedEx, or other carriers.
  10. Possess the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the duties normally associated with processing and delivering mail, which require employees to frequently stand, use hands to manipulate individual mail pieces; reach vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  11. Must have a valid driver’s license to operate a government vehicle to drop off and pick up mail from various locations.

Physical Demands:
    1. Must be able to make door-to-door mail deliveries or handle mail carts and mail hampers or lockboxes often weighing more than fifty (50) pounds or receive stock and distribute special jobs must be able to perform these functions safely and efficiently.
    2. Must be able to present a professional appearance (no open-toe shoes allowed) and provide services in a professional and courteous manner while complying with all applicable client rules, regulations, and procedures. For example, personnel shall not smoke in the building and shall always wear Contractor identification. Contractor personnel shall not litter, damage, deface, or foul client grounds or property.
    3. Must be able to communicate verbally with customers and the public to deliver mail, process telephone requests, etc.; read printed and cursive writing to research addresses, specially written instruction, manuals, bulletins, direction, notes, memoranda, or any other written material necessary to efficiently carry out any work within the clients’ Mail Center.
  1. Ability to maintain facilities in a neat and orderly manner.
  2. Must complete clients IT security training requirements annually
  3. Must be drug-free as random drug testing may occur.
  4. Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English well enough to understand and implement the Mail Center Standard Operating Procedures.
  5. Strong communication skills
  6. Excel at working in a team environment
  7. Dependable and reliable
  8. Must be able to maintain the work schedule
  9. Punctuality is a firm requirement
  10. Ability to follow directions
