Payroll Manager - eTime (Must be located in Naperville/Chicago)

We are seeking an experienced payroll professional to assist our client, located in Uniontown, OH/Naperville, IL. The Payroll Manager will be responsible for overseeing and supervising the payroll and time & attendance functions. This role will ensure pay is processed on time, accurately, and in compliance with all government regulations across multiple divisions and payroll schedules for both US & Canada operations. The Payroll Manager will act as a subject matter expert and resource for others in payroll taxes, certified payroll, and union reporting, and will be responsible for implementing, maintaining, and reviewing payroll processing systems to ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll transactions. They will also be responsible for ensuring that the time & attendance system is operational and is updated as required during the course of business.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversees and supervises the payroll functions, ensuring pay is processed on time, accurately, and in compliance with government regulations across multiple divisions and payroll schedules.
  • Maintain and administer ADP eTIME system
  • Ensures that time & attendance system is updated per company requirements at all times.
  • Acts as a subject matter expert and/or resource to others in payroll taxes, certified payroll, and union reporting.
  • Implements, maintains, and reviews payroll processing systems to ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll transactions including salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes, and other deductions.
  • Identifies, recommends, and implements updates and improvements to payroll processing, procedures, and internal controls. Inform management of changes to tax requirements that impact the company and/or employees.
  • Key liaison with third-party payroll processor.
  • Ensures accurate and timely processing of payroll updates including new hires, terminations, and changes to pay rates.
  • Ensures that all union reporting, and certified payrolls are filed in an accurate, timely manner.
  • Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws and best practices.
  • Ensures the timely and accurate processing of quarterly and annual state, local, and federal tax filings.
  • Coordinates the accurate and timely production of W2 forms annually, including reporting of files.
  • Compiles and validates the accuracy of payroll report data for internal business partners to facilitate reconciliation and reporting requirements.
  • Responsible for both US & Canada payroll management.
  • Responds promptly to inquiries for information from external and internal customers including taxing authorities, union representatives, and customers.
  • Maintains all levels of confidentiality, especially with sensitive payroll information.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, Business Administration, Human Resources, or related field experience.
  • CPP certification preferred.
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in Payroll and/or HR or Accounting.
  • Knowledge of Payroll and Payroll Tax requirements, eTime, processes, controls, and best practices.
  • Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local laws and regulations governing payment, taxation, and reporting of wages.
