HR Director

FosterThomas, Inc. is a leading Human Capital Management Firm. We are assisting our client, a non-profit organization, in their search for an HR Director, based out of their Washington, DC office. This role offers a hybrid schedule.
 

Summary/Objective 

As the Director of Human Resources, reporting to the Vice President of Finance and Administration, you will be responsible for the successful leadership of all areas of HR including compensation, performance management, talent management, succession planning, employee engagement, recruitment, and retention, learning and development and more.  The Director of HR will partner with employees at all levels of the organization to deliver efficient and effective HR that meets the needs of the business and creates a top-notch employee experience.  As a leader in the organization, the Director of HR will partner with the executive team to drive strategic initiatives that support the organizations growth goals.   

 

Essential Functions

 
  • Lead the alignment two corporate benefit structures.
  • Oversee all HR initiatives by working with leadership and understanding the business and resource needs.
  • Provide Day-to-day HR Business Partner support which includes providing advice and counsel to managers and employees on employee relations to ensure consistent implementation of HR programs and initiatives across the company.
  • Lead strategic initiatives including job design, talent reviews, and workforce planning, retention, diversity, compensation planning and organizational development/change management.
  • Lead the planning, development, and implementation of company policies.
  • Lead talent acquisition and onboarding efforts including the development of specific processes to support these needs.
  • Review, track and strategically enhance employee benefit programs in order to support a growing and diverse employee population.
  • Oversee Annual Benefit Open Enrollment and relationships with benefit vendors.
  • Leverages payroll platform (Paychex) to enhance the human resource and benefits experience for the employee.
  • Provide coaching and guidance to managers and employee around all aspects of performance management including feedback, goal setting, compensation, and succession planning.
  • Show an active understanding of profit drivers for the company and ability to align HR goals and initiatives to support company growth.
  • Manage Learning & Development efforts including leading and developing employee training opportunities.  
  • Oversees Leadership Development initiatives that support managers and leaders at all levels of the organization.  
  • Ensure ongoing compliance with legal and regulatory requirements pertaining to employment issues and review and update the Employee Handbook as necessary.
  • Manage salary administration program, conduct wage and salary surveys to ensure salaries remain competitive and equitable.
  • Maintains employee policy and procedures manual, including developing and implementing operations and personnel policies and procedures. Reviews the policy manual with staff.
  • Fosters a workplace environment consistent with the values and vision of the company.
  • Provide Oversight of HR manager.
 

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources or a closely related field.  
  • 5+ years of relevant strategic human resources business partner experience.
  • Experience dealing with complex employee relations issues.
  • Proven ability to balance the strategic and tactical elements of the job.
  • Proven ability to support innovation and change.
  • Strong familiarity and experience executing HR disciplines including organizational effectiveness, talent management, performance management, etc.
  • Experience supporting business growth and development.
  • Self-starter with demonstrated ability to multi-task in busy, fast-paced environment.
  • Strong influencing and negotiation skills.
  • Exhibit critical skill of building trust, relationship building and partnering with all levels of management.

Preferred Qualifications/ Certifications:
  • Human Resources Certification; SHRM-CP/SCP or PHR/SPHR
