Construction Assistant Superintendent

FosterThomas, Inc. is a leading Human Capital Management Firm. We are assisting our client, a regional construction management company, in their search for an Assistant Superintendent. This is a great opportunity to get in on the “ground floor” and presents a HUGE opportunity for quick advancement in a new office in Chapel Hill, North Carolina.

We are seeking an Assistant Superintendent to assist Superintendents and Project Managers with executing projects according to the schedule and within budget. 

Responsibilities:
  • Actively participates in the creation and management of the master schedule and look-ahead schedule.
  • Reviews and annotates subcontractor tickets with the superintendent.
  • Directs and supervises work for “minor trade” subcontractors as assigned by the project manager and/or superintendent. 
  • Actively participates in the punchout process.
  • Actively participates in opening and closing the job site as directed by the superintendent. 
  • Contributes to and maintains daily photo records for projects including creation of albums and proper labeling of photos. 
  • Participates in safety observations and inspections.  Initiates safety violation notifications. 
  • Actively participates in all meetings including pre-install, Owner, subcontractor meetings. 
  • Manage general process/paperwork requirements of the project site. 

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or Engineering preferred.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in the construction industry and/or participation in a relevant internship program.
  • Strong interest in the built environment. 
  • Awareness of building codes, OSHA and applicable local safety regulations, and procedures.  
  • Demonstrate ability to manage and effectively lead project team for discrete portion of a project.
  • Must be able to successfully meet the requirements of a pre-employment selection assessment (CMA Assessment), and background check.
