The Release Train Engineer supports Snowbird Agility’s mission to transform federal service delivery. This role reinforces operational excellence, agility, and high-quality delivery across client programs.
Position Summary
The Release Train Engineer is responsible for providing technical expertise, supporting mission-critical delivery, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to advance Snowbird’s objectives.
Primary Responsibilities
- Lead Agile Release Train events and ensure delivery flow. - Coordinate PI Planning, ART syncs, and continuous improvement. - Remove impediments and manage dependencies across teams. - Support agile maturity coaching and delivery visibility. - Partner with COO to standardize delivery processes and metrics.
Secondary Responsibilities
- Contribute to Snowbird operational excellence and continuous improvement. - Support documentation, reporting, and cross-team communication. - Participate in internal training, coaching, and knowledge-sharing activities. Desired Technical Skillset - Strong understanding of: - Lean-Agile mindset - Agile principles (Scrum, Kanban, XP) - PI planning best practices - Program & solution-level coordination - Program & Release Management - Managing release schedules, dependencies, and risks - Working with Product Management, System Architects, and Business Owners - Understanding of: - Roadmaps - Capacity allocation - Feature prioritization - Release governance - Ability to track and enforce ART predictability measures - Familiarity with DevOps and CI/CD processes - Understanding of: - Version control (Git) - Build pipelines - Deployment practices - Experience with Agile/SAFe tools: - JIRA / Jira Align - Rally - Azure DevOps (ADO) - Mural / Miro - Confluence - General understanding of enterprise architecture and system integration
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience. - 3–7 years of relevant professional experience. - Strong communication and collaboration skills. - Federal contracting experience preferred.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to sit or stand for extended periods. - Ability to lift up to 20 lbs as needed. - Occasional travel up to 10%.
