Job Description

Our client is seeking a Proposal Writer to join our proposal and business development team and win new work across the Federal government. We are a Technology and Business Solutions firm located in Reston, VA looking for a high energy candidate, who can bring new ideas to improve the proposal process, and deliver winning proposals!
The successful candidate must enjoy and be able to write.  We are looking for someone with proven experience writing compelling and winning proposals, as well as help manage the proposal process. 
Responsibilities
  • Responsible for all Bids and Proposals, including RFI's, RFQs, RFP's and other informal requests
  • Interview technical SMEs, Program Managers, Task Leads, and other technical personnel to collect technical and methodology information and incorporate that information into developing winning proposal content
  • Collaborate with company SMEs to develop proposal response solutions, win themes, storyboards, and initial outline
  • Write management and technical sections in creative, compelling, and easily understood response content
  • Participate in proposal content reviews and address feedback from all members of the the proposal development team
  • Thoroughly review all proposal response volumes and sections, ensuring written consistency (“one voice”) in the final proposal after review of various team and technical inputs
  • Set and manage the proposal schedule, milestones, and deliverables, while ensuring proposals meet all customer requirements
  • Ensure compliance to procurement requirements
  • Provides direction for the preparation of the technical, management, and cost inputs to achieve a response in line with the bid strategy
  • Organizes ongoing proposal meetings to identify and resolve problems and share information
  • Manage and execute the proposal production process
  • Maintain and update proposal boilerplate documents and repository
  • Use public sources to identify and research opportunities, customers, and technologies
  • Assist in developing corporate capabilities statements
 Experience and Skills
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree from accredited college/university
  • Minimum of five years related experience
Skills Required
  • Familiarity with Federal government procurement processes and documents such as RFPs, RFQs, RFIs, and sources sought notices.
  • Experience with Federal government technical proposal development and processes
  • Extensive proposal writing and editing
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Proficiency in grammar, spelling, and punctuation and have accurate proofreading skills
  • Excellent organization skills and extreme attention to detail
  • Extensive knowledge of MS Office Suite applications
  • Familiarity with select Adobe software, such as Acrobat, Illustrator, and Photoshop
  • Strong skills in planning, problem solving, analysis, and research
  • Flexibility in adapting to deadlines, changing schedules, priorities and unpredictable events
  • Must be detail oriented and able to work with minimal supervision
  • Occasional unscheduled overtime and weekend support
