FosterThomas, a leading Staffing and Recruiting Firm in the Mid Atlantic is assisting our client in their search for a Project Accountant located south of Annapolis, MD.

The Project Accountant is responsible for construction accounting and project cost/profitability analysis. Performs accounting and analysis of labor, material, equipment, and other project costs relative to production and estimates. Coordinates efforts with Controller, VP Finance, Directors of Operations, Project Managers, Project Coordinators and other field & administrative functions

Essential Job Functions, Duties & Responsibilities:
Review new Contracts and Job setup for accuracy
Monitor Change Order activity and process approved Change Orders Review & approve customer invoices & submit for payment
Review incurred & committed job costs on in progress jobs
Review estimated Cost at Completion (C@C) for reasonableness and verify calculation of recognized revenue on fixed price & unit of production jobs
Record Inventory Job Cost transactions & related activity  Perform job cost & profitability analysis on completed projects Perform analysis of costs related to cost codes & production units Participate in monthly PCAR meetings
Monitor Accounts Receivable for past due invoices
Maintain Labor, Certified Fringe, Overhead & Equipment Rates in various software applications Review supplier & subcontractor invoices for accuracy and process for payment
Ensure subcontractor compliance with contractual and project requirements
Maintain Accounts Payable Supplier/Subcontractor & Accounts Receivable Customer Master Files Reconcile General Leger accounts (WIP, Inventory & others as assigned)
Perform periodic audits of Job/Contract folders to ensure compliance with internal policies & controls Prepare and process supplier credit applications & perform credit reviews on new customers Interact with internal/external auditors during quarterly reviews and audits
Prepare analytical schedules and management reports
Provide support & assistance to Accounting, Administration, Estimating & Operations as required Support and execute all company policies, procedures and internal controls
Education, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field
Five or more years of experience in construction administration, accounting & profitability analysis Experience in tracking construction projects relative to costs, payroll, revenue recognition & invoicing Proficient with various software applications - MS Excel & Word, Sage 300 CRE (Timberline) & FAS Exhibits strong analytical aptitude, problem solving skills, good judgment and decision making ability Excellent organization skills, attention to detail and commitment to meet critical business deadlines Effective communication skills, both verbal and written

Demonstrates a commitment to a regular and dependable work schedule & ability to work independently
