Job Summary:

An external technical advisor for managing information system projects and engaging with external IT support functions.  Role is to act as an informed advocate for a company with no full time staff trained in IT, validating and advising on information systems and cyber projects being developed by ASRI’s MSP, cyber auditor, SQL DB manager, and website provider.  The role will begin with supporting a cyber audit remediation process that is aligning the company with ISO 27001.

Primary Functions/responsibilities:

• Support and advise on contracts and engagement with both MSP, SQL, cyber, and website contractors.
• Collaborate with business stakeholders to gather and analyze technical requirements for IT systems and projects
• Advise and guide ongoing IT projects, ensuring they have the required information to be completed in an effective and informed manner.
• Ensure system requirements and configurations are documented for internal records.
• Evaluate and recommend technology solutions that meet business goals and improve operational efficiency, translating business functional needs into clear technical specifications for suppliers (such as AI implementation and necessary cyber requirements).
• Advise on required training for end-users, ensuring smooth implementation and adoption of IT solutions.
• Recommend security and cyber audit requirements, and provide guidance on any remediation recommendations.
• Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies, suggesting potential opportunities for improvement.
• Support the data protection officer

Required Skills/Abilities:

Education and/or Experience Requirements:
Minimum: Bachelor’s degree in computer science
Desirable: Master’s degree in computer science or equivalent experience through certification

Required Qualifications:

• 5+ years of experience on IT or system architecture-related projects.
• Strong understanding of business processes and how they align with IT systems and solutions.
• Proficiency in gathering and documenting business requirements and translating them into technical specifications.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with both technical teams and business stakeholders.
• Experience with project management tools and methodologies.
• Experience with SQL databases

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience working in a small or growing company environment.
• Knowledge of data analysis, reporting tools, and business intelligence software.
• IT certifications are a plus.

Essential Physical Requirements:

• Primarily working from a computer/smartphone/tablet during work hours in office/home
• Regularly required to maintain a stationary position sitting at a desk and working on a computer; move about the office and the local metropolitan area; determine what others have said or written; and, converse with others and exchange accurate information.
• Regularly required to sit, stand, bend, reach, and move about the office and travel (locally, nationally, and internationally).
• May also include occasional bending, stooping, squatting, and/or pushing and pulling or moving, e.g., to pack, unpack, and/or move cases.
• Occasionally required to move, raise, reach, and/or retrieve binders, books, boxes, and files up to 25 lbs.
