Business Development Associate

Annapolis, Maryland
FosterThomas, Inc. is a leading HR Management and Consulting firm. Our client is seeking a Business Development Associate to work out of their Annapolis, MD office.
 
Successful candidate will perform a variety of duties to support the growth and expansion of the Company working with the Business Development, Bid and Proposal teams and provides assistance to support firm-wide global business development efforts. The position requires the exercise of discretion and independent judgment in evaluating possible courses of action as it relates to proposal packages, presentations and other functions.
 
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
 
RESEARCH AND REPORTING
  • Assist with client research to support firm-wide global business development efforts
  • Assist consultants and department leads in marketing and proposal research of current and archived proposal and marketing schemes
  • Monitor contracting websites and download RFPs and opportunities
  • Prepare monthly BD news bulletin with input from BD team for executive level review
 
 
REGISTRATIONS AND LICENSING
  • Initiate, renew and maintain government, agency, organization and supplier registrations
  • Maintain registration matrix for licensing and BD requirements
 
 
PROPOSALS AND MARKETING
  • Coordinate and participate in the proposal and marketing initiatives through each stage of the proposal development process including, but not limited to:
  • Identify and interpret proposals layout, production and delivery requirements
  • Facilitate interaction with teaming partners, writers and SMEs
  • Assist with written proposal content including Executive Summary, Management and Technical Volumes and other sections as required
  • Develop graphics and illustrations
  • Prepare client presentations with input from the proposal and marketing department
  • Maintain documentation BD library (client presentations, proposal submissions,  marketing materials, statistical data, past performance, proposal content past and present)
 
 
SALES AND MARKETING
  • Maintain and expand customer base by counseling DFS Management and Sales representatives; building and maintaining a rapport with key customers; identifying new customer opportunities
  • Establish sales objectives by creating a sales plan in support of national and global goals
  • Contribute sales information and recommendations to strategic plans and reviews; prepare and complete action plans; implement production, quality and customer service standards; resolve problems; complete audits; identify trends; determine sales system improvements and implement change

  • Assist with varying business development, operational and company initiatives
  • Facilitate travel, accommodation, meeting and event planning
 
 
Required Knowledge and Skills:
  • Strong proficiency of MS Office Suite
  • Excellent technical writing skills
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, organizational and analytical skills
  • Exceptional attention to details with the ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks and complete them under time constraints
  • Confident and cooperative team player with good customer service skills
  • Superior ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
  • Problem-solving, research and analytical skills are required
  • Ability to work independently on concurrent multiple assignments
  • Ability to work within compressed schedules and deadlines
  • Willingness to accept new assignments and responsibilities
  • Outstanding written and oral communication are critical
  • Ability to work in face paced environment
 
Experience and Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent training/experience, preferably with a concentration in business and, or marketing
  • 3-5 years’ experience minimum in administrative position
  • Proposal experience, specifically in the Federal contracting sector (unique op tempo, unique proposal language, unique technical writing styles etc.
  • Logistics / Supply Chain experience, ideally again in the Federal / USG, US Military or commercial space with experience of challenging environments
  • Experience with graphics, desktop publishing or related field is a plus
  • Proven experience within Logistics, Freight Forwarding or Shipping sectors preferred
 
 
Other Qualifications:
  • Position requires a valid driver’s license
  • May require the ability to pass and maintain a US DoD DSS security clearance
