in their search for a LNG Bargemaster
Schuyler Line Navigation Company (SLNC) operates commercial US Flag and Foreign Flag vessels worldwide, providing a variety of shipping and logistics services all over the world and particularly in the North, Central and South American markets, West African markets, Caribbean markets including Cuba, Guatemala, Belize, Colombia, Haiti, and European markets, including Denmark and Thule.
SLNC is seeking qualified applicants for the position of LNG Bargemaster engaged in the Florida – Caribbean trade. The role will include applying LNG cargo operations and nautical expertise to support all aspects of SLNC's LNG marine operations, including loading/discharge operations, cargo monitoring during transit, tug-to-shore interface, cargo and support system maintenance and provide support to on-site Marine Coordinators.
- Merchant Marine Officer Experience, Licensed – Chief Mate or 2nd Mate/1ST A/E.
- Seagoing experience with LNG carriers/barges and thorough knowledge of marine operations, LNG cargo maintenance and tug/shore interface
- LNG Carrier seagoing experience may be substituted with relevant technical military background or proven similar role at LNG marine terminal.
- Mid-level license or higher with Tankerman PIC DL/DG endorsement
This is an exciting new project for SLNC. SLNC is looking for a highly motivated and experienced individual to assist with getting this project successfully through its initial stages and subsequent first few voyages. Upon successful completion of initial hitch, continued employment will be offered on rotary schedule.
SLNC anticipates the LNG Tanks being fitted onto the barge in a domestic shipyard during the fourth quarter of 2021. In order to gain familiarization with the project, SLNC would anticipate the LNG Bargemaster attending for the duration of the yard period. Prior to, or immediately following the yard period, SLNC will arrange for the selected LNG Bargemaster to complete Tank Ship Liquefied Gases course unless the requisite endorsement is previously held.
The LNG Bargemaster will manage LNG loading operations initiated in Jacksonville. Cargo will be loaded from the terminal to a tank-fitted barge for transport to Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. While underway, the LNG Bargemaster will be located onboard the tug and will monitor the LNG system and tanks remotely, with the support of shore base technical department, and board the barge in case needed to troubleshoot an issue that the remote monitoring system cannot resolve. The LNG Bargemaster will also be responsible for cargo discharge in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba and equipment maintenance in port, when idle.
