Human Resources Generalist

FosterThomas, Inc. is a leading HR Management and Consulting firm. We are supporting a client, a premier general contractor headquartered in the Washington DC Metro region with offices in Atlanta, GA, Austin, TX, Dallas, TX and Denver, CO, in their search for an HR Generalist. 

The Human Resources Generalist will work closely with the Director of Human Resources and the HR team to assist with managing policies, procedures and best practices in the human resources department.


  • Assist with implementing HR duties to include but not limited to recruiting, on-boarding, benefits, compensation, compliance, training and development, benefits, and wellbeing
  • Assist with creating and maintaining HR policies and procedure, Employee Handbook, and standard operating procedures
  • Utilize HR systems and technology to maximize effectiveness and efficiency
  • Assist with compensation administration and employee communication regarding salary increases, promotions, and bonuses
  • Process Workers Compensation claims
  • Function as a trusted advisor to employees with human resources needs
  • Establish and maintain external industry contacts to enhance rand’s image and learn best practices and programs
  • Create a best-in-class work experience and culture to assist in earning top workplace awards
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent time management skills with proven ability to meet deadlines
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Self-starter, strong work ethic and a team player
  • BA/BS Degree required in Human Resources, Business Management, or related field
  • 2-3 years of progressive human resources/generalist experience

Physical Responsibilities:
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to, stand, sit; talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer and telephone keyboard reach, stoop, and kneel
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision requirements due to computer work
  • Light to moderate lifting is required
  • Regular, consistent in-office hours required
  • Possess good hearing (normal or corrected)
